Union Square Announces Denis Law Legacy Trust as Charity Bursary Partner for 2024-2025
Union Square is pleased to announce its partnership with Aberdeen based charity, Denis Law Legacy Trust, as its chosen charity bursary partner for the 2024-2025 period. As part of this exciting partnership, Denis Law Legacy Trust will be awarded a generous £5,000 bursary to support their valuable programmes and initiatives.
Denis Law Legacy Trust is a local children’s charity that supports and empowers young people to thrive through a range of positive pathways and free to access activities. Since 2006, the charity has delivered a wide variety of weekly activities, along with annual events that have shown measurable impact and results across Aberdeen in improving physical and mental wellbeing.
The charity’s aim to foster safer communities and reduce youth related anti-social behaviour greatly aligns with Union Square’s own mission. By selecting Denis Law Legacy Trust as their charity bursary partner, Union Square is hoping to support the organisation’s vital work and help them break the negative cycle many disadvantaged young people face.
The £5,000 bursary awarded to Denis Law Legacy Trust will go towards the purchase of a new mobile sports arena that will help the charity deliver their Streetsport programme, which is run in partnership with Robert Gordon University, directly into the hearts of disadvantaged communities that need it the most. Actively engaging with thousands of participants each year, this will provide free access to physical and mental wellbeing activities for young people and their friends, and make a lasting difference to them as they start a positive journey with the charity.
Mark Williams, Chief Operating Officer, Denis Law Legacy Trust said: “We are incredibly honoured to be chosen as Union Square’s charity bursary partner for 2024/25. This exciting new partnership highlights the positive impact of both our organisations and brings together like minded people to help support free-to-access programmes that enable us to support young people, living in Aberdeen’s most disadvantaged communities. I am looking forward to working more closely with Union Square to support and empower these young people to thrive.”
