Union Square Shopping Centre Announces Aberdeen Foyer as Charity Bursary Partner for 2025-2026

Aberdeen Foyer's evidence-based approach to tackling youth homelessness aligns perfectly with Union Square's values of community investment and social responsibility.

Union Square is delighted to announce Aberdeen Foyer as its charity bursary partner for 2025-26, supporting the organisation’s vital work in ending youth homelessness and tackling poverty across northeast Scotland.

Aberdeen Foyer provides crucial support to young people aged 12-25 and adults facing challenging circumstances that prevent them from building positive futures. The charity’s comprehensive approach addresses both immediate housing needs and the broader barriers that can prevent young people from achieving independence.

The bursary from Union Square will directly fund Aberdeen Foyer’s Employment Engagement Programme at Trinity Court, their housing facility that provides safe accommodation for approximately 65 young people experiencing homelessness each year. While stable housing offers these young people essential security, many require additional support to develop the practical skills, confidence, and professional networks necessary to transition into work, training, or education.

This innovative six-month programme will bridge that critical gap, complementing Aberdeen Foyer’s housing support to accelerate pathways to independence and create brighter futures for vulnerable young people in the region.

Leona McDermid, CEO of Aberdeen Foyer, commented: ‘We’re absolutely delighted to be chosen as Union Square’s charity partner. With their support, we will help more young people build the confidence, skills, and opportunities they need to move forward positively in their lives. It’s inspiring to see such a valued local business investing in its community and we are truly grateful for their belief in our work helping young people thrive.’

The partnership reflects Union Square’s commitment to supporting local organisations that create meaningful impact in Aberdeen and the wider northeast Scotland region. Aberdeen Foyer’s evidence-based approach to tackling youth homelessness aligns perfectly with Union Square’s values of community investment and social responsibility.
