Shopmobility Awarded 2024 Kings Award for Voluntary Service

Shopmobility has been recognised for their work in supporting Aberdeen’s disabled community.

Shopmobility Aberdeen enables people with permanent or temporary disabilities to use Aberdeen’s retail, leisure and community spaces and access the city and surrounding area freely, the charity can finally announce they are one of 281 charities in the UK to be awarded the Kings Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS).

Created in 2002, this Award gives recognition to charities doing the most to support their communities and the people in them, with a real goal to award charities that have the highest standards in everything that they do and that have made a large and meaningful impact in their respective communities.

Shopmobility and the volunteers involved have been supporting people living in and visiting Aberdeen for over 30 years, aiming ultimately to empower those with limited mobility to be “as independent as possible, for as long as possible.” The people and their families that have been supported are given the opportunity to do what matters to them because of the hard work commitment, enthusiasm and dedication of the volunteers, with the charity making a real impact in breaking stigma and social barriers.
